First quarter
About this photo
A sharply focused view of the moon during its first quarter phase.
Taken in Paisley, Scotland at around 10:30pm on May 20, 2021, this is my clearest and most detailed photograph of the moon so far, and serves as a marker of how much my photography has progressed since my earliest shots with this camera.
The image highlights surface texture and craters along the terminator line. Strong contrast between illuminated and shadowed areas emphasises depth and detail.
