Ten pins
About this photo
A set of worn bowling pins stand at the end of a lane.
I don’t get to go bowling as often as I’d like, but on one night out I brought my camera along to see what I could capture. The lighting in the venue made action shots difficult, and many didn’t quite land the way I hoped, but this image immediately stood out. The worn, rustic look of the pins, the reflections stretching across the lane, and the subtle tilt of the frame all came together naturally.
The pins peeking through from behind add an unexpected sense of depth, creating a layered, almost three‑dimensional shadow effect that gives the image its character.
