Tranquility

About this photo

A long-exposure landscape shot of a pond from Portland Japanese Gardens.

In 2017, I took what felt like a once‑in‑a‑lifetime trip to Portland and Seattle, with a visit to the Japanese Gardens being one of the highlights. The gardens were absolutely beautiful, offering a sense of calm and balance that invited slower, more considered photography. This image required patience and careful framing, as I aimed to create an ikebana‑inspired triangular composition using the stone lantern, the waterfall, and the triangular rock in the koi pond.

Part of a series focused on calm, atmospheric scenes from gardens and parks.
